I believe that certain things being for sale is an issue and one thing from Sandel’s list that I believe shouldn't be for sale is: “The right to emit a metric ton of carbon into the atmosphere.” I don’t see the value or convenience in a company wanting to purposely add pollution into the atmosphere. It’s a waste of money and it depletes the efforts of people wanting to lessen the pollution on Earth. The companies who opt to do such a thing, shouldn't be allowed to in the first place no matter who is profiting from it. As years go by, problems like this could get worse. Companies would be putting humanity at risk by deliberately adding pollution. They should in fact try to find other and efficient ways to get rid of their pollution. If this can’t be done, countries should try to regulate these practices and try to not let companies do it at all. Anything that could potentially put others at risk is something that shouldn't have money be put in to. Opposers may say that companies need ways to get rid of things and profiting from it is even better, but I just see it as a sign of greed and carelessness for the environment. There is only one Earth and we should be doing actions that are beneficial to its future. Just because there aren't significant effects of this kind of pollution or it may not seem to be harming us now, doesn't mean that it won’t in the long run. Continuing such practices would only be going against the cause.
